PRESS RELEASE: Gathering Our Voices Sells Out in Single Day

October 25, 2017 - For the first time in 16 years, the event Gathering Our Voices (GOV) Indigenous Youth Leadership Training sold out in a single day.  GOV is the premier Indigenous youth training opportunity in the country, attracting over 1,000 youth annually from all over BC and Canada.

“This high level of demand reinforces our belief that Gathering Our Voices is offering a unique training opportunity to Indigenous youth, and continues to meet the dynamic needs of our young delegates,” states Leslie Varley, Executive Director of the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres (BCAAFC), the hosts of this event.

GOV2018 will take place in March in Richmond, BC, on traditional Musqueam Territory, and is co-hosted by the BCAAFC Provincial Aboriginal Youth Council, as well as the surrounding Friendship Centres.  The event lasts four days and includes an array of cultural activities, a Youth Talent Showcase, a Career and Education Fair, and workshops on leadership, wellness, and education opportunities.

“Each year we are inspired by the motivation and drive of our youth delegates and we hope the tools we give them will help them build on their personal successes,” shares Ms. Varley.

If you are interested in sponsoring Gathering Our Voices, or would like to volunteer, facilitate or be an exhibitor, visit the GOV website, www.gatheringourvoices.ca.  Questions can be directed to Marleah, Lead Coordinator, govcoordinator@bcaafc.com, or 250-388-5522 extension 210.

Always in friendship,

Leslie Varley, Executive Director
